ENVIRONMENT
In GENESIS Pharma we make an effort to reduce the environmental effects of our operations, implementing practices for saving natural resources, recycling and protecting the environment.
Recycling & Saving natural resources
Since 2006 the company implements a recycling program for paper, aluminium and printer cartridges, facilitated through an independent organization.
Since 2007, all the common lamp bulbs were gradually replaced by saving energy lamps throughout the company's facilities in Attica (Fillelinon Street, Kifisias av., Lavriou av.).
Every year the company collects and recycles all the company's old electronic and electrical devices. In 2009, GENESIS Pharma cooperated with Kotsovolos for the programme "green initiative". With our employees' participation, we collected and recycled both corporate and old domestic appliances.
Finally, GENESIS Pharma, complying with regulations, pays dues to the Hellenic Recycling Corporation for the primordial and secondary packaging materials that are produced as waste in the final release of its products.
"Green" IT
In the context of restructuring the corporate information systems, the IT department replaced all servers with new ones using Blade technology.
As a result the consumption of electricity was reduced by 15% according to the consumption rate of the manufacturer.
Annual disposal of expired medicines
GENESIS Pharma pays significant attention to the management of expired pharmaceutical products for the protection of the environment. For the annual destruction of expired or damaged stock products, GENESIS Pharma cooperates with a specialized company (APOTEFROTIRAS S.A.), licenced by the ministry of Environment for packaging and removal of hazardous toxic waste.
GENESIS Pharma participated in the Earth Hour
GENESIS Pharma in support of the WWF effort for the Earth Hour, switched off the lights of the central building floors, reduced part of the IT systems operations while it also put a banner on its website with the aim to forward the message to all of its visitors.
Additionally during the 15th Pan-Hellenic Oncology conference on Saturday 28/3/09, the Oncology Business Unit distributed informational material for the Earth Hour to all visitors as well as a small basil pot, as a means to promote WWF's cause and promote environmental mentality.
